Public Libraries Public Parks/Beaches Police/Fire Depts - What if we had to pay out of pocket for police and fire help Postal Service Student loans and grants Bridges Garbage collection Social Security EPA Ways labor unions helped all workers in America 8 hour work day - Wealthy men like Vance Muse the architect of the original Right To Work movement in America wanted workers working 16 hour plus days six days a week until unions stepped in and negotiated the 5 day 40 hour work week. paid vacation sick days FMLA Wages - Unions raise wages of unionized workers by roughly 20% and raise compensation, including both wages and benefits, by about 28%. Weekend off Child Labor - Unions fought to end child labor Healthcare coverage - Unions won widespread employer-based health coverage and that includes non union members as well.
