However. The Paranormal movies made me cover my eyes.

Conjuring I want no part of.

Anyways. Is the Nun scary?

I think that It (2017) is a great movie, but yea, it isn't scary at all, IMO.

but I kind of assumed it was just me because I can't remember the last time that I found a horror movie to be scary

It couldve been scary if they didnt rely on loud noises and jump scares and didnt show the clown every five seconds. Still, great by modern horror standards.

Apparently, The Nun is awful.

Most of the horror in the book involved all its other forms, and what it did to people in the past.

Also that part where the kid strangled the baby to death. It was pretty descripted.

I saw The Nun the other day and loved it. Its more creepy than scary. also maybe it effects people raised in catholicism more than others. I just really got weirded out by some of the imagery in the movie cause I grew up with some of that stuff.

I love the Conjuring series though and enjoy all the movies but I really liked The Nun more than usual. I just like the unique backstory and situation. usually they are set in people's houses and it's about a family. so this was cool to be in a castle and be about priests and nuns

anyway, like I said, in case you weren't aware, I am not sure, it is a Conjuring movie. you say you want nothing to do with Conjuring movies. it's part of the Conjuring universe and they had cameos of The Nun in past films. So yea.

The Conjuring is trying to be like the MCU of horror. I already spotted some things in The Nun that could potentially lead to new spin offs.

It's not scary, it's a low budget made for TV movie which has pretty much one single really good actor, Tim Curry, who is hamming it up to a ridiculous degree because he knows the material he's working with is goofy.

Even the book itself had one single spooky moment, the storm drain at the beginning. IT feels like Stephen King came up with that one chilling mental image of something colorful being in a dark cramped space and then wrote absolute nonsense around it in circles.

no one age 10 and up finds clowns scary

it's not really a clown. it;s something more. the remake and the novel explain it better than the old tv movie. yea in the tv movie it's just a dumb clown. but in 2017 IT, and in the book, it's made clear that the clown is just one trillions of forms it takes. and especially in the book you do get to see alot of different forms. it's basically a god. that is older than the planet probably. it's been around since the big bang

My friends are dragging me into the Nun and it looks bearable since IT gave me confidence that I can handle these films but I'm still not sure lol.

naw, they saw it land in their hotbox vision, it's somewhere between an alien and a god. Tbh, I think King just forgot halfway through which he was going for.

I get the feeling you might get creeped out. you should know by the very first scene. the movie opens up with something freaky. and shows you what you are in for. watch the first scene which is like 10 minutes long or less. and then you will know if you need to go into the lobby or not

I guess that makes sense. The framing towards the end certainly speaks to "eternal god".

Paranormal Activity and The Conjuring do a pretty good job of building up tension. The idea of not knowing what's coming up is always the scariest part. They keep things subtle enough where it's relatable.

It overall is more like a fun spooky ride. It's over the top and fun. More similar to something like Nightmare on Elm Street.

Kind Regards,
