Well for me, I no longer see myself being in corporate America long-term. I don't really think it's useful unless that's your plan. It has been helpful to me currently, I have a great salary right now so it's not as if it hasn't been useful. It's just not going to provide that long-term benefit that I initially thought it would due to me changing my own plans and ideas.

Thankfully though, it's not as if I'm in debt over it though. My education is 100% paid off.

Oh my bad. Long story short, a business in real estate investing. I'm working with many people right now that have been doing it themselves and are quite successful. So yes, it's definitely realistic, just takes some sweat equity and know-how.

I would say so, yes. As soon as I got it, I started applying for jobs and found one relatively quickly that paid like 20k more than what I was getting, close to 6 figures. Non manager. That's a pretty good bump up IMO. I have no doubt that if I really wanted to, I could start applying for manager jobs, etc. But as stated earlier, I see myself going no further up the corporate ladder.

At my company a masters will be treated like 2 years additional experience. It opens no additional doors and you don't get paid more (other than the 2 years additional experience, which is 5-10%).

I don't have an MBA, I have a business undergrad. What most people told me is if you have your business undergrad, don't bother with MBA unless you need the piece of paper, you won't learn much more.

my BA is in IT, so I dont really have that business/finance experience that I think would be helpful to get into management

I dont know much about this stuff, so I could be dead wrong.

Isnt an MBA for a completely different thing than the PMP? Like its wondering if you want an JD or an MD.

AFAIK the CAPM is pretty much a baby PMP?

ive heard the MBA helps pretty much any type of management/business career whereas the PMP is more for project management professionals who are looking to have an advanced cert. CAPM is the entry level one but i havent seen a lot of job postings and stuff talking about it, & reddit says it's not really an in-demand type of cert. i dont work in PM now so i think going for a PMP would be a long shot and not pay off as much as an MBA might now

Wouldn't bother with an MBA unless it's a top school, you're looking to transition, or your company pays for it. I have one, btw.

there's a good chance my company will pay for it, or pay a sizable portion of it. so i dont really care as much about the ROI element, i just want to build my resume up a bit

I also read in several places that the most important thing in the MBA is where you get it.

Its not about the quality of the education itself, its not like you will be taught some secret knowledge at Harvard or Yale, its about the connections you will make and the cachet it will give your resume.
