I'm not too good with gadgets. I'm shopping around for my mom and she just needs something with a bigger screen than a phone(mostly for facebook and video chat) that isn't total crap, and doesn't cost a fortune.

in all seriousness, Kindle Fire is a bit of work to get some apps to work. If they already use apple products go for refurbished ipad, or if they are completely neutral get an older Note or Galaxy Tablet because I think android is usually a bit easier to use
