Because it can destroy somebody's life based on an accusation.

This is a legitimate critique imo, but the fact is that sexual assault victims have had their power robbed from them and often going public with it is their only option. I don't think anyone really likes this situation, but it's what things have become in the US.

That can defiantly be a legit issue. There are two sides to that coin though. How many lives has been destroyed because of rape that's not reported out of fear? I don't know what the perfect solution is but there are issues on both sides.

No one's life got ruined because of #MeToo. The only people whose lives are ruined are the ones who actually committed crimes and are legitimately facing jail time (Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein, etc.)

Not saying you should assume this either but you can't see why it's dangerous to treat one gender as if they're incapable of lying? Especially with accusations as life destroying as that?

This. Everyone else? Maybe they lost a job but what happened next? A few months (months, not even a year) passed and they we're usually reinstated to their old job. At worse they were a comedian, disappeared for a year and then came back with a routine with jokes about rape.

Barring the ones who got imprisoned, they are never held responsible, only inconvenienced for a few months that doesn't actually hinder their career.

All the time it seems like. There are like a billion cases of this

? I only see it with athletes. (Mainly football players) Even then if they are a big enough of a star they don't even get kicked out. They are too valuable. If it is that wide spread, these universities need to change their policies.

It has collapsed in on itself. It no longer has a focus. It focuses on guilty before proven innocent, leaving everything to the court of public opinion. It's great what it did to Weinstein, but not everyone accused is a Weinstein. Not everyone needs to be instantly let go from their jobs just because someone is accused.
