Mega Man 1 is so simple, but it's so fun cuz of that. Pretty much every power is useful in some way except Bombman's lol. The music is great and the gameplay is fun. Plus it's pretty short and replayable.

Mega Man 2 does have awesome music and metal blade, but half the weapons suck and Wily's Castle is extremely bullshit and tedious.

Mega Man 3's weapons kinda suck and it drags on so fucking long. You gotta replay 4 of the robot masters, then go through Wily's Castle with it's piss easy difficulty. It should've ended like 4 levels earlier.

1 just feels overall like a better game >_>

If MM1 had a password system it would be damn-near perfect.

E Tanks would be nice, but it's not really an issue.
Those Big Eye things can die in a fire though.

I love 3 but I do agree it kinda drags with the Doc Robot stages

The whole "2 castles" setup from 4-5-6 also can make the game feel too long (but not as bad as 3)

To be fair, only half the weapons in MM1 are any good

Rolling Cutter, Thunder Beam, and Fire Storm are all great substitutes for the Buster

Ice Slasher is only good for freezing the aforementioned Big Eyes

Hyper Bomb and Super Arm are too situational, and the Super Arm is literally useless without blocks to throw.

Yeah, Super Arm is pretty useless otherwise, but when you get a boulder and smash it through enemies, it was extremely satisfying >_>

I also used Ice Slash all the time. It's so much fun just to freeze everything.

The Doc Robot stages and fights are at least pretty interesting. The real crime is the obligatory Wily Fortress, which is a massive let-down. There's really not much going on there, as if they just slapped it together at the last minute.
MM2 suffers from having two infamously bad bosses(Boo Beam Trap and The Alien). Like, they make Yellow Devil look good(because at least Elec Beam kills him swiftly and isn't literally the only thing that even hurts him and you can actually afford to miss).

Plus, 3 has pretty good weapons.
Shadow Blade is balanced a Metal Blade.
Top Spin allows you to mulch weak enemies mid-jump. It also randomly glitches when confronted with enemies it doesn't one-shot, which is fun considering it's Shadow Man's weakness.
Needle Shot is Buster 1.5(kind of boring, kind of good).
Search Snake crawls along the floor, making it good in rooms with lots of uneven terrain.
Gemini Laser is strong, but the bouncing gimmick is baaad.
Hard Knuckle hits like a truck, but is slow.
Magnet Missile is kind of gimmicky, but the cool kind of gimmicky.
Spark Shock is utterly worthless unless Magnet Man is giving you trouble.

It's one of the better bunches in the classic series, IMO, even with Spark Shock being garbage and Top Spin being glitchy.

The points don't do anything for that. You just need to step on 8? enemies in a row.

Each enemy you stomp on gives progressively more points until you get the 1 up.

They took the points out of the game later but that's how it worked in 1, 3, and World.

But the points themselves didn't give the 1ups. Doesn't matter if you had 0 points or 99999 points when stomp the 8th one.
