Well it only took me a few days to break that 'no new anime until I finish my backlog' pledge. At the rate I've suddenly slowed down to, I would miss out on the whole season!

Anyway, here's a first episode impression:

Zombieland Saga looks like it's going to be something special! I also feel like I shouldn't talk about it much though, I went in knowing nothing but the title and I think that sense of wonder helped. I'll include my other minor comments in a spoiler tag. I really like the main girl so far, glad to see another lead voice-acting role for Hondo Kaede after she was great as Etou Kanami in Katana Maidens. I'm also a fan of zombie fiction and that aspect looks like it's going to be a lot of fun, too. I just hope the music isn't all death metal, I'm really not the biggest fan of that genre.

Do the voice actors just speak a lot faster when recording, or is this a production effect?

Yeah, all are great. I do like Utena the best of his three shows though. It does have some flaws that the others don't, but it also has some really awesome parts.

also wow Maya's VA in this is terrible. I checked it out, and apparently this is her first role? Really not surprising.

Sometimes it's goofy as fuck and other times it's the most surreal heavy shit I've ever seen. Often both at the same time!
