All companies are hierarchies. Some baby boomer could be retiring and there could be like 10 millennials, all with twice the qualifications or more competing for his spot. 9 of them have to lose. That's the way it is. Time to stop telling people to 'just work hard' and acknowledge the reality of things. Do you want to stroke yourself by being better than other people or are you okay with everyone being happy? I would rather everyone be happy and take a little from the super rich so we can advance society. I like Jordan Peterson for reminding me of these hierarchies over and over again, and I'm definitely not a conservative. But I like him for that. $75k is a stretch to be considered 'happy.'
