There seems to be some stupid ass modern belief that if you have a straight U shaped smile you are more likely to succeed at whatever it is that you put your mind to. What idiot came up with this? It has to be one of the most ingenius ways to get people to invest in useless shit like braces, which your teeth eventually misalign and other dental work. Is it just aesthetics? A person with nice teeth can't have a better conversation than a person with crooked teeth, or be a better friend...in fact, I'd go as far as to say that the more your teeth appear to conform to the ideology of that U shape the more likely you are as a person to discriminate others based on petty shit, the more likely you are to be a shady individual, the more likely you are to fake and put up a farce in front of others and a bunch of other stuff :) 3 2 1 go

Its a major turn off for me personally. I like getting blow jobs. Would not want a want a garbled mess going to town on my dick. Not to mention from purely sanitary purposes, if a persons mouth looks fucked up, it could be an issue.

People need to just brush their fucking teeth

I understand crooked teeth are expensive to fix so I don't rip anyone for things like that because I assume they can't afford it, but toothbrush and toothpaste are not expensive.

It's a good thread honestly. Parents spend thousands of dollars to get their childrens teeth straightened, does it even fucking matter? Getting braces is the price of a car. Lasik for example costs like $500, that's so you can see clear again, one of the most important senses you can invest in. Braces on the other hand cost thousands of dollars, yet more people will get braces than lasik, why is that? Why do people care so much about how their teeth look?

This isn't always enough to prevent cavities/decay. Especially with very crooked teeth.

I'd say it matters if it's actually an issue where it's going to cause discomfort, jaw problems etc.

If it's just for minor aesthetics, probably not

I'm not talking about oral hygiene, that's a given, brush your damn teeth man it takes like 3 minutes. But the whole perfect U shaped smile, the need to have that affirmation of "hey I got nice teeth guys" should be seen like something obnoxious. No one ever talks about how swindled they get by their orthodontists, they actually buy into the shit those guys say. Like dude, by your 40's regardless of the U shape of your teeth you will be feeling deep nerve pain in your teeth from the 40 years of mastication unless you chew your food like a moron and count every chew, make sure you chew equally on both sides of your mouth etc.

Not really, I was blessed with a decent set of teeth, not a perfect smile in the least, but enough to where I can see through the bullshit that is orthonditic work. If no one gave a shit about these guys we'd have a lot of more confident people about being able to smile and feel ok doing it, instead you literally have "smile teams" at dental offices, people who specialize in making sure you have a nice smile so you can impress others with your teeth like some kind of used car salesmen.

I have no idea what you're even talking about. I have never heard of such a thing in my life, and I find it hard to believe it's actually a thing.

nah i agree with the deleted message, it is a weird thing about society.

it would be interesting to see how much people end up making through their lifetimes when they have straight vs crooked teeth to see if there is any real discrimination going on. they would probably have to control for which class they were born in along with some other stuff.
