Because he dominated a sport for a very long time and the comeback he has made with all his injuries is amazing. Even people that aren't big golf fans will watch for Tiger, and many people that don't watch still want to hear about him. And if you want to know why regular folks like him, you'd have to ask them. Everyone gets a little attention when they first get the green jacket, but America went wild for Tiger. And the PGA was happy to go along for the ride when it suited them. Believe me, if they could make someone else as big as Tiger, they would. PGA has tried to get fans behind other guys. When Jordan Spieth won, they wanted him to be the next big thing. But the average person doesn't care about Spieth, or Kuchar, or Koepka. It's a shame, because there are some talented folks out there.
