What I meant in the previous topic, was I just don't like the idea of believing in allegations of sexual misconduct right away. The fact that Kavanaugh (or however you spell it) has faced more accusations since puts things into context though.
It was more that I'm also against the idea of not taking allegations seriously just because they come up at the "perfect" time. Oftentimes the accusers simply want to forget, or they're worried they won't be believed, or they're worried about pushback from the one they're accusing, or they simply don't want to give their harasser any additional publicity. Also I had anyway heard from Hillary Clinton that Kavanaugh was a threat to women's rights, so I'd hardly be surprised if he really is guilty. By this point though it seems like most accusations are fine and the real problem comes from a person's image being tarnished overnight as a result. Not a fan of people like Morgan Freeman and John Lasseter being lumped into the same category as Weinstein or Kevin Spacey, but at the same time they should understand what they did is wrong. I also don't think this whole sexual predation thing is inherently male. If women had the same number of powerful positions there absolutely would be some around (hi Asia Argento!). It's just that women are rarely in a position to do such and far more often in a position to be sexually abused. Very unfortunate, but I also disagree with people who say women MUST apply for more positions of power to prevent this stuff from happening. In fact, that idea sounds worse the more I think about it.
