Was going to play Dragon Quest VIII, but the system I currently have to use has a terrible laser and keeps randomly freezing at load spots. Keep losing my progress. -_-
I've heard that over levelling in VI is bad because of jobs. Any non spoiler list with recommend levels for each area? Anything else I should be aware of? --- I'm not lazy, I just don't care http://backloggery.com/DeltaBladeXNZ - https://steamcommunity.com/id/DeltaBladeX ... Copied to Clipboard!

I think this cart has bad contacts. It keeps randomly freezing at load spots. If there is a higher power, it clearly doesn't want me to play more Dragon Quest.
Anyway, after the third freeze, I got out the alcohol cleaning fluid and a cotton swab to try cleaning the contacts. No issues since, hopefully that lasts. Progress so far is back at the starting village --- I'm not lazy, I just don't care http://backloggery.com/DeltaBladeXNZ - https://steamcommunity.com/id/DeltaBladeX ... Copied to Clipboard!

I think as long as you don't hit around 23-25 before you get jobs, you should be good.
And in any case, I think there's an area with enemies that give low experience but still give job points, so you have a fallback plan in case you do accidentally overlevel. (I think it was a tower or something?) As far as tips go, if you want the Hero to get the "Hero" job as fast as possible, go for the Luminary advanced class. You only need around 490 battles to master it (That's Gadabout + Dancer included), and then you can go ahead to Hero. All the other characters need to master 4 advanced classes to unlock it. --- "Splashing water on a pervert is like putting lasers on a shark" - Shiho Shishido ... Copied to Clipboard!

you could get 8 on your 3ds Costs way too much. I'll spend $15 - $20 on a replacement PS2 (want a 50000 for hard drive support anyway), or $80 for the 3DS game on eShop (EB has none in stock in the local stores). I'm also not a fan of the downgraded visuals, even if it allows a couple of new player characters. --- I'm not lazy, I just don't care http://backloggery.com/DeltaBladeXNZ - https://steamcommunity.com/id/DeltaBladeX ... I already knew it existed. If I wanted it, I wouldn't need you telling me about it.

Can't remember much about DQ VI honestly. Played the SNES version around 10 years ago. Overall I was disappointed because it wasn't as good as V (which I still find as, the third best JRPG on the SNES behind Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy V).
If I tiered the DQ games I've played I'd do: XI (Currently 30 hours in, absolutely blowing me away with production quality) V VIII VI IX VI had some pretty graphics on the SNES, I don't know how they look on the DS. DQ VIII is an absolutely stunning PS2 title. --- Judge, Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. You're a regular Jack Kerouac ... Copied to Clipboard!

DeltaBladeX posted...Was going to play Dragon Quest VIII, but the system I currently have to use has a terrible laser and keeps randomly freezing at load spots. Yeah, it was rather annoying. I miss my old PS2, had a much better laser than this one. My brother uses this PS2, and is convinced my discs are at fault, because his ones froze as well. The family discs were dumped on the floor and walked on. Mine remain in their cases in a nice bookcase. At least once I find a replacement, I can use a hard drive again for playing backups. Faster load speeds are nice. Dealing with the contacts on the cart was easier, seems to be working fine now. --- I'm not lazy, I just don't care http://backloggery.com/DeltaBladeXNZ - https://steamcommunity.com/id/DeltaBladeX ...
