They weren't really good people and honestly they weren't interesting people either. Really it was about two people who found each other in the honeymoon phase and once that was over they only cared about what they wanted and said things they didn't actually mean but we live in the world where what you say and what you mean are the same thing so they went their different ways.

And honestly Ryan Gosling is nothing but a hot bod. He ain't no henry Cavil level of acting. He ain't close to Leo. And I always thought Emma Stone was never really all that.

I went in expecting a fun throwback to musicals, what I got was a movie that starts as a fun musical and then runs on for way too fucking long and has two deeply unlikable protagonists.

I thought it was OK. I liked that they were kinda crappy people, but they were important parts in them both getting to accomplish their goals. Ryan Gosling got Emma Stone to stop trying to be a "big-time movie star" and get her shot at the big time, and Emma Stone helped Gosling stop being a pretentious dick and start doing things he doesn't like to accomplish his dream. Although Emma Stone's character seemed like a shallow "just wants to be famous" person and wasn't as interesting.

Totally didn't deserve the like, 40 Oscars it got though.

Yep. Along with Birdman, and various other movies that are generally shit because they're appealing to other Hollywood professionals and that's why they're called "Oscar Bait"

I just felt like the romance was very generic. Was it supposed to be relatable? Seriously felt like a Koream Drama film but made by Americans.

Loved La La Land and was very upset it didn't win best picture. Can't believe everyone ITT is hating on it so much.

The point is that the two characters loved each other, but loved their careers a lot more. Final end sequence was about the sense of loss that accompanied achieving their dreams.

I can understand wanting more musical numbers. Only one song in the movie came somewhat close to matching the opening musical number.

Everyone knows this. And my point is it's not original and how they did it wasn't even charming IMO.
