Gameking beat 999

Had a good time replaying this on the PS4. Never played the sequels, so that'll have to happen sometime.

Biggest issue with this version was how they changed the final puzzle. I think it was done better on the DS if I remember correctly.

and probably something shorter like an adventure game, but I kind of want to ask what anyone else would be interested in playing (like I was thinking monkey island 2, or full throttle, or broken sword 2. or maybe broken sword 5 if it doesn't have any major spoilers for the other games, I think it was on psn+)

I haven't heard of this Gurumin game before, but after looking it up it looks really cool. I'll have to try it sometime.

Personally Crispy, I would totally do Full Throttle. I beat Monkey Island 2 earlier in the year, and I went through Broken Age 2 last year. I would also do Broken Sword 5, but I suspect that one has some callbacks to previous games.

ok beat Super Ghouls and Ghosts

...yeah, the last couple levels are an even bigger pain on the small screen so I can't recommend the gba game.

Will defintiely play West of Loathing (I played about 5 hours of it. Always meant to get back to it, but I'll probably start a new file). Think I'll skip Little Nemo and God of War, though.

Haven't progressed too far in 999. I have done three escape rooms thus far, but I can't play it for too long of stretches due to how tired I am. I have mixed feelings about the new voice acting. Seven and Ace were two of my favorite three or four characters when I went through this the first time, and I must say that I am disappointed with their voice artists thus far. Akane, Santa, and Snake are fine. Junpei is pretty good, but Lotus and Clover seem to be the best.

Clover is a pleasant surprise because it's apparently the same person who voices her in VLR. She got a raw deal with how crappy Clover and her lines were in VLR, but she's delivering her lines in a far more believable manner this time around.

I remember that the order I got the endings in 999 were Axe > Sub > Safe > True > Knife , so I am curious as to how things will shake out this time.

My first two endings, in order, were Knife and Sub. I see that they toned down the game just a tad. It used to be that your death scenes featured a blood splatter or fully blood red. Now they just have a white screen. I can't recall sound effects from the original game, but I also wonder if they made the fatal blow on you sound less visceral.

I once did a ranking of my Top 100 game moments back in like 2011 or 2012, and the sub and axe endings both made my list. I wish that I could experience the sub ending for the first time again. It would definitely still make my list if I did an updated set today.

Something that I have noticed that is really cool about the remasters is that characters aren't just still images, they actually move around some. About the only thing I liked from the less expensive move to using 3D models in VLR and ZTD was character animations, not that either game put much of their budget toward that.

Wrapped up two more endings in 999, Safe and Axe.

I had a tough time understanding how to unlock the path for the true ending due to the new flowchart addition, but I think that I got things sorted out. I've come to appreciate the puzzles even more. They clearly aren't as involving or complex as VLR or ZTD, but they are the perfect length and nothing is frustrating.

I haven't come across my favorite line from the game despite going through both of the potential rooms where it had to have been used in. That's disappointing.

KCF has beaten 999

Finally wrapped up the true ending today, but man does pacing slow to an absolute crawl once you hit the exclusive path of the true ending. Loved replaying it. I appreciated some things more and less the second time around, but it is still far superior to the subsequent games in the trilogy.

Gurumin didn't give a strong first impression in the first 15 minutes, and I haven't even done anything of substance. I'm also not a fan of the control scheme. I should see if I can re-map controls.

I will try and play Gurumin again tonight, and if finally getting around to the actual gameplay portion doesn't really grab me, I will probably move on.

The fact that we've had like two comments about next month's games after having done the drawing over 72 hours ago does not bode well.

I only beat Little Nemo once, back when I first got it. It's been a long while since I played it, so I'll definitely be playing that in November.

Gurumin beaten

it's an ok game I guess but not as good as the ys games due to some kind of questionable design choices. Like I don't like the rating system or the minigames and then there's the padding things out with the mirror levels. and also going a bit overboard with moves that require you to rotate the control stick (or I guess the cursor if you're using mouse/keyboard) which probably contributed to my analog nub on my first psp breaking ha ha.
