Current Events > Ni No Kuni II is easily my GOTY

It's very charming and magical. The entire time I was playing, it felt like I got transported to the early 2000's and was playing a prime PS2 JRPG. It has a few faults, but the overall experience was fantastic and it beat out Monster Hunter World for me and became my top pick.

Yes, I loved that too. Though I liked the updated combat system and less focus on the monster catching.

I haven't played the first but 2 is a stand alone sequel. Kind of how FF or DQ games are.

Not really. Same world, but a good while later. A few locations would be familiar to players of 1, but you can play 2 without 1 with no trouble.

Eh. I was heavily disappointed by it after the first. It had some of the same charm but it just didn't draw me in the same way. The monsters were less interesting, the plot and voice acting were worse, the locations were worse, the higgildys were neat but I preferred monster recruitment by a lot.

Dq11 is my goty by far.
