Lol I was trying to find the other topic, it was odd timing that very shortly after you brought that up, version 2.0 rolled out with that feature.

same

BTW what are your thoughts on the Vivaldi Sync? It's like Google Sync right? This doesn't mean Vivaldi is spying on you like Google does rite?

Vivaldi Sync is pretty legit - it encrypts the data on your computer and then uploads it to their "protected" servers in Iceland and then when you request it on a new computer it only decrypts it once it's downloaded to that computer. If you forget your password then it deletes the data that's stored on their server and re-uploads it from your computer.

I don't use it though since I only use a desktop and they don't have a mobile version so it's kinda useless for me imo.

Google has a similar option to encrypt the data so they can't read it. Really Google doesn't necessarily spy on your bookmarks and stuff like that, they moreso just track browsing habits and e-mails and stuff to generate and market advertisements, which I hate.

Whelp, Vivaldi crashed three times when I was downloading files. Two of those times I was downloading files multiple files at once, the last time was when I downloaded something quickly after downloading something else.

So I'm guessing downloads aren't this browser's strong suit. I don't download stuff too often, but this might be a potential deal breaker. Chrome, Firefox and not even Opera had this problem. :/

Yeah it has some random problems. Like it used to crash on certain videos on reddit. I ... haven't encountered that problem so I don't know if I've dodged those videos specifically or if they fixed it.

Since you brought up the tracking thing before you might check out Brave browser. I know you've gone through like a dozen at this point lol.

Reading Brave's Wikipedia page, it seems ... I don't know, shady? "Should be illegal" ad replacement? Extensions seem lacking, too.

They are working on a new version (though maybe it's out already idk) that will let you just use any Chrome extensions.

The advertising thing is kind of a cool concept, since literally everyone wins. The "should be illegal" ad replacement thing is actually a good thing since websites that are serious about generating revenue from ads are forced to examine the idea of non-third-party-tracking advertising (since Brave doesn't replace those).

Everything's self contained, too. It shows you ads from a pool of ads, instead of sending your information out to other content providers to pull an ad from the internet. It is intended to provide your private data while still benefiting advertisers.

And sites can partner with Brave directly so..... yeah. IIRC you can opt out of ads entirely, either way.
