they've never had a consistent tone or direction for the character, a fact that was largely excusable because of the high quality of his second and third solo films. and I guess it's easier to ignore this weakness in the avengers stuff which was mostly carried by the ensemble.

I havent seen Infinity War yet, but this doesnt really surprise me. Captain America was usually kinda boring in the movies compared to all the other charismatic and/or loud/big personality types.

Cap 1 is in the lower half, but perhaps the best of that group of films. 2 and 3 are probably the two best mcu films. Honestly not sad to see him go, because chapters need to close eventually. This is a good time for the character to get hopefully a well done ending

We've known this was happening for years now, both due to his contract expiring and him wanting to get out of acting and into directing. We'll probably see the mantle passed to Bucky or Sam.
RDJ is probably done as well, Hemsworth would likely have been done prior to Ragnarok but apparently that reinvigorated the role for him so I expect he'll stick around for maybe one or two more Thor movies. --- I main ledges. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Probably my favorite of the MCU Avengers. I say "probably" because Thor has been great on the last two movies. That said...I totally expected him to die in Civil War, so it's kinda about time.
Surprised to see people not really liking him. I think he's been pretty great in the role of keeping the rest of the MCU cast grounded. Though Banner and Peter are doing most of that recently. --- DPOblivion was far more determined than me. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Bold prediction: Cap and Tony both sacrifice themselves to defeat Thanos, and Thanos dies with a smile on his face, because if these two people with such different personalities and worldviews who really don't get along are able to put aside their differences in the face of a common foe, maybe balance does exist in the universe after all.
I see Captain America as having a character arc similar to Solid Snake. He's a soldier who has known nothing else but war. He's kept up the fight for years, even as everyone around him has either died or moved on. Even Bucky has acclimatised to the modern day better than him, now that he has rejected his Winter Soldier persona and is building a new life for himself in Wakanda. Cap hasn't been able to let go of the past in the same way. He is the last remnant of his time period, and there isn't a place for him in the world any more. There probably won't be a character in the film saying "Steve had a hard life. He needs some time to rest." but I'll definitely be thinking it. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Rumor is that the title of the movie will be Avengers: Annihilation which I kind of hate.
Firstly, because there's already been a criminally overlooked movie that came out this year called Annihilation (go watch it pls). Secondly, why waste Annihilation on this? I'm worried that with Gunn gone they will be less gung-ho about doing space stuff, since he was the driving force behind that. Annihilation would never work as a story, least of all because Thanos is not gonna be brought back after this. Brolin isn't gonna want carted out once a decade to play the role again.

They could easily do an Annihilation movie without Thanos. Since y'know, he wasn't the main villain of the story. Annihilus was.

I mean they told Civil War without including hardly anything resembling Civil War, so I don't see the problem. Also Infinity War is nothing like the comic Infinity War. It's fine.
