also trying to get more people to join but it's pretty bare bones, need to work on things like custom emoji but i'm horribly busy, unfortunately (should probably consider adding an auto-mod feature as well, this being said)

Im not sure my advice will help since my server is all about hentai but... it's moderately successful, took a year to get there though, so here's what I learned...

Post script TLDR; Its easy to fall into the trap of creating a channel for everything from music to memes, to different kinds of porn. Don't create channels you aren't going to post in because neither will anyone else. Also read #2 & #5.

1. As admin; everyone looks to me to post 90% of content. Hardly anyone else contributes. Which means I am constantly collecting more stuff to post; its worse than a full time job. Every day I steal the best pictures (over the last 24 hours) from a halfdozen other servers and post them on mine. When someone requests a character; I look through all 3000 pictures on sankaku and post the 50 best pictures. At this point I already have a lot I can just drag and drop from a very organized folder...

2. You should have at least 2 folders dedicated to content heavy servers like porn; "To Post" and "Posted". Not only to prevent reposts, but as an 'inbox' for new downloads, to space posting out (I might collect 100 pics some days, but posting that many makes users eyes glaze over) and as a staging ground for prep work like numbering pages or zipping the whole doujin.

3. When it comes to Channels, "Less is More". Too many channels just spreads your content too thin, creating an illusion of inactivity; people post things in the wrong channels (if at all, see #1) and...

Siderant: if someone tells me to post Zelda in #Elves or #Monster-Girls one more time, Imma choke a bitch.

3.5: conversations appear anywhere & everywhere. Let them happen, admins who get annoyed about chats interrupting porn are just... nagging and full of themselves. Nothing kills the audience more than telling them to "shut up or move to #Chat."

3.75: Every server has a music channel that no one uses. At best everyone just posts ONE youtube link of their favorite song; everyone else has heard before or won't bother listening to. Dead channels make your server look dead. LESS IS MORE. (On the other hand #shitposts/memes will be your most lively channel. I guarantee it.)

4. Its YOUR server, and you're not going to post if you don't like it. A friend recently handed over their server so now I have two, but its dying and suffering... Because Im not a furry. Going back to point #1: The admin is expected to post all the content. Im not into furry porn so I have nothing to post; but thats what the audience that was curated by my friend wants. Its not like they're going to post it themselves to share with eachother.

4.5: The lesson to take from that is; many servers have a #suggestions channel, where some user will ask for a #Furry or #Music channel... Which is going to be a dead channel that makes your server look dead. (#3.75)

5. Some things need their own channels. Fire Emblem Heroes for example; some posters love spamming screenshots; others don't want it flooding the #Gaming channel.

You maybe wondering why the users don't post? Because they just wanna fap and go about their day. Generally that's why I post daily; that's how often people visit. The ones who stick around want to talk about video games or memes, not post porn for the ones who nut & bolt.

Yeah I think I'll enable auto-modding for certain things, need to tailor my bots so they are less spammy and more useful for the users in the server.
