Its an extremely terrible book that pseudointellectuals use to appear educated by claiming the sky is falling down. It has no relevance to modern day America and I take nobody who quotes the book seriously.

Somehow the right latched onto the work of a guy who equated Stalin as an arm of the far right not the far left and claimed himself to be a democratic socialist while condemning fascism at the same time as stating that fascism is a direct result of the untethered freemarket of capitalism.... and somehow claim that he was warning about the left as a champion of the right.

Knowledge should be a culmination of quoting quality works. Outright discouraging quoting 1984 sounds a bit odd to me. I just don't see the point
