It turns out Nintendo never actually downloaded any ROMS from the internet to sell back to us. They made their own ROMS and sold us those. That is including the Wii VC ROM that people suspected was stolen from pirates a while back.

The smoking gun in all of this is Clu Clu Land of all things.

I find it strange that it took this long for us to discover that Nintendo hired one of the iNes programmers.

Looks like I was right once again. I called after Nintendo killed Emuparadise that their intention for that move out of nowhere was to take those roms to sell back to you because they themselves lost the source code to those games years ago and they want to build a retro game library on the Switch

And what was CE's reaction?

"Hurr durr you're just a troll and shitposter and have no idea what you're talking about, Nintendo would never do such a thing because they love all their fans like their own family"

All those fanboys who vehemently defended Nintendo now have egg all over their faces, I love it

Er, what? The topic is saying that Nintendo *didn't* do that, they've always had the roms since the Gamecube days.

I won't deny they did that move to make sure they got sales from the Switch and the Classic Consoles though.

You realize how this topic is about how we have ironclad proof that Nintendo literally didn't do anything even close to that either now or back when they first launched the Wii VC.

Because this is pure coincidence, right? They got caught selling roms pulled off sites before, now they have an entire library of games to sell to you that they acquired for some small legal fees.

Incorrect. Terrible internet detectives "caught" Nintendo selling ROMs from sites before. We now have extremely decisive evidence that they did not do such a thing, ever.

Hiring a single developer from an emulator somehow makes a header from said emulator magically appear on their games?

That's not the proof. The proof is Clu Clu Land's header which is also in the AC Emulator.

Glad this controversy is laid to rest.

However, let's say Nintendo did rip ROMs off of some site to resell them because they lost the source code or whatever. It's their game, their creation to begin with so what's the big deal?

It's extremely important from a moral philosophy standpoint because "If Nintendo can pirate roms then I can pirate the same roms too since they implicitly admit it's okay and visit those websites."

When you add the shut downs to the mix, you end up with "look at them, they're robbing the sites of content and then having them shut down so that we can't get them." when reality the truth is Nintendo is getting these roms from their own internal archives. They dumped a version of Clu Clu land that was never released otherwise and literally sat in their archives until the AC emulator.

When you get into the "oh they can do it so why can't I?" argument it's really childish. Honestly, I just want these games to be archived in a way that they're easily accessible to everyone and available on a platform that doesn't require purchasing the same thing over and over and over. I would have no qualms with VC if it were built in a way that the games you bought were tied to your account and as such could be played across devices. I would have a good bit of games I could have already installed on my 3DS to play with, but instead, I have to purchase them again, and that's bullshit.
