how do people pronounce scuba? if you're following "hard G because graphical is a hard g" then should that not apply as well to scuba? what about laser?

I love the argument that it starts with a G so having a J sound is absurd. It's almost like words like giraffe, gene, gym, gender, gem are all being pronounced wrong with this logic, right?
