Nope. They told me the union minimum which is pretty good. Youre hourly wage has a lot of variables, but I asked around and so guess we start around $30 an hour.

They want you to take less so they make you offer what you are willing to take to get hired. Unless you're a doctor or other person who can basically dictate all the terms of your employment, you'll always get jerked around.

No Jenny, I was doing that to help out a friend. I quit that job in June when they finally found someone that they thought could watch YouTube and babysit adults just as well.

I started driving for lyft and Uber out of boredom two months ago when my son went back to school.

Still have my real grown up job.

But yeah, you would prob be an assistant manager in a very short amount of time. My point isn't that you can live on minimum wage (which you can), but that you could find a job you actually like, and make it pay enough for you to live comfortably, even if it takes a bit of time for the money part to happen.

yes i do. my student loans alone are $612 a month.
my care payment is $280 a month. i just bought my car. i'm not selling it back.
i have $200 worth of medical bills a month i need to pay right now.
i have a $200 credit card bill.

that's $1,292 right there. where can i rent a room for $500? i have a dog, a cat, a boyfriend and a house full of furniture. where is a room that can fit all of those things?

gamestop doesn't give 30 hours a week to game advisors. when i worked at gamestop as a game advisor they gave me 6 hours a week. i used to work at gamestop. you don't know what you're talking about.

they don't just promote a ton of people to assistant manager. they have one assistant manager per store. those people usually have worked at the store for a couple years or more.

why would i leave a job where i'm making almost $60k already to work 6 hours a week for $11/hr just for the chance to make "over $60k" in 10 years?

Each gamestop is different and depends on who is running it. You could get 30 hours at Seth's store, and I can't imagine you wouldn't be able to get a job as an assistant manager at this point with your experience (and therefore get at least 30 hours, but probably 40...cause yeah when seth was Assistant manager he worked about 40 and now over that).

You could go on an income based repayment plan Jen, until you made enough to start paying it back. It would take along time to pay it back mind you, but you only have to pay at most 10% of your gross income at any time. If you make under a certain amount, you pay back nothing (but of course the interest continues to accrue so you'll end up paying more long term).

Also, gamestop was an example, you can get a part time job working as a cook if you like that, or teaching art to students, or heck anything you like (all I know of your interests is your on a game message board). I know you love your doggo, so you could be a dog groomer (though from friends that isn't such a fun job I have heard).

The point is, you CAN find a job that you like and live comfortably on it. Might have to pinch pennies at first, but you can do it.

My friend in NY btw, also just got a job at gamestop (without Seth's help since they don't know each other), he starts on the 21st and was told he would be working 20-30 hours, so not sure why you got so few hours, or if they changed policies, or it's just different from store to store, but 6-11 does not seem to be the norm.

You don't NEED all your stuff and your lifestyle, you are just used to it. I am not saying to throw it all away if you are happy now. But what if you were NOT happy now? What if you hate your job, spend all your time there and commuting to it, and hardly had any time to even enjoy your home and stuff?

Give me your general location and I'll find 10 places you can live for $500 or less in 10 minutes. If I can do it in Brooklyn NY, I can do it anywhere in the US (And I just did it recently for a friend in Brooklyn, although he moved into one for $600, and is going to move to another one in a month (also for $600), they were much better (larger) then the ones for $500 is why (worth the extra $100) and this is in NY (right across the bridge from manhatten...where it is WAY more expensive).
