How come some christians are so single minded when it comes to homosexuality? Like why does that one thing get so much focus and attention when there are thousands of other messages and rules in the bible they seemingly dont care about following?

Plus Im pretty sure their rationale about it being in the bible is a bit silly seeing as it was in the Old Testament which should be a bit of a moot point considering the NT replaced it.

2. Because Christians run the nation most of the places the atheists live in with injust rule and irrational attitudes.

Religious influences in laws, lobbeying millions of dollars, such as opposition towards homosexuality/women, free speech, prostitution, support of wars, allied with fucked up nations, drugs etc.
Abortion laws
Tax exemption for churches

Denial of science and attempts to influence education, banning/hindering teaching of evolution/climate change, pushing of intelligent design and belief in God in schools.

Opposition to stem cell research and other areas.

Violation of the Consitution with religious iconography on the walls of public schools and court houses.

Remember that all the steps we took away from religion towards rational society in the past few hundred years, came from atheists and humanists.

Don't forget that without the complainers you demean, we would still live in nations that killed people for reading the bible in English and beat people to death for homosexuality.

We still see that in the Middle East were atheism hasn't developed and countered the religious consensus

Hell, many major denominations perform gay marriages and allow gays to become pastors.

The few your thinking of are mentally unstable lunatics that would be famous regardless of their faith. Asking it a question like "why do so many Christians hate gays" with the implication being that that's the norm is like asking "why are so many Muslims terrorists" or "why do so many Jews control the media".

They're all shitty stereotypes where the person asking is trying to pass off their own biases as genuine care and virtue.

I think it stems from evolution.

Rewind the clock thousands of years. Males that fucked other males didn't have kids and died younger (Aids and whatnot)

Society had minimal ideas about diseases and such.

And somehow forming tribes with the belief in the supernatural allowed said tribes to survive more and have more offspring than those that didn't. So religion was born.

I think "don't buttfuck other men." was just good advice that humans' 3,000 year old unconcious brains and DNA was trying to process and so we evolved to put it in our religious beliefs. Hence why it is alongside "don't eat shellfish in the desert. Don't touch chicks during their period."

That was just good advice for society at the time.

Now we're stuck with it v_V

The Christian God is actually very loving and forgiving. It's only fake Christians who are anti gay because they're actually homophobic pieces of shit too cowardly to admit that, so they use their religion as a shield.
