I can get behind folks who want to curb online bullying through certain methods, but Bully Hunters was so fucking tryhard. Pay these people money and they'll gang up on someone for you - though there's no telling if they'll be skilled enough to actually defeat the player. And didn't they lean into the diversity angle super hard? It was just a cringy shit show, though I can at least appreciate the thought.

Like I don't agree with a lot of people who are like "peh, it's all fake liberal diversity for diversity's sake, so much grandstanding and empty platitudes that helps no-one" - because a lot of it is just bitter nerd bitching - but once in a while I'll fully agree. This was one of those times. Just state the capability of your team, introduce them and don't make a gigantic point of having X amount of a certain type of people, trying to sell your business on the back of being equal opportunity - it's an online business where you grief griefers. By all means advertise a progressive message, and say that you don't cater to hateful requests and that you work harder to bust online racists or whatever, but I don't understand trying to win internet brownie points by boasting about a diverse team in this instance.

If I want people to go after a dickhead online, I couldn't give less of a shit if it was a team of Jeff and Alicia, or if someone named Desire is taking care of my request, or if it's a complicated network of players who hail from all across the globe from all different walks of life. Everyone is capable of this role. I can respect them if they do a good job. Advertising that there are equal amounts of men and women, and a racially balanced team as well, means nothing to me in the context of Bully Hunters - you're just a bunch of faceless online mooks who make a living as internet game mercenaries.

The concept itself is a bit ridiculous, but I don't get why they steered into the diversity angle in this instance. It was already goofy, and by loudly stating diversity at the top of their lungs, it just attracted more ridicule. Was the business plan to hope for the internet to protect this company of the future from all criticism? It's just another footnote for whiny fanboy bitches to roll out when something decides to look into a more diverse range of people to employ.
