I swear, every movie after 2015 just blasts out music and sound effects and everybody whispers.

My television is perfectly set up for television programs and 95% of movies work fine. Why do these new movies have such loud sound effects and music?? I have to watch the movie with the remote in my hand to constantly control the unpredictable jumps in volume.

Try dicking with the audio sliders or channels if you're watching on pc.
Amd with the blu ray options if on blu ray.

It probably comes from the movie being in a surround sound setting and you watching it on a stereo television/speakers

Blu-rays are terrible for this. Im essentially unable to watch disc-based movies on my TV because I constantly have to adjust the volume or the loudness bothers my family members in other rooms, plus its just uncomfortable to get blasts of effects / music / noise that isnt dialogue while straining to hear the characters talk.

All the movies Ive watched at home lately have been TV broadcasts or downloads, because if Im going to be stuck watching it on my computer with headphones, of course Im not going to bother going out to buy the disc when in 10 minutes I can have any movie I want ready to view without moving from my desk.

This is actually movies that Im watching directly from the SYFY channel. If I watch an episode of Futurama on the same network, or a movie from before 2015, the sound plays just fine. Voices, music, and sound effects come out perfectly balanced. Then when a new movie comes out, its almost like nobody watched it to test the sound balance.

Every movie that Uwe Bolle makes is just like this. I had to either choose between blowing out my eardrums having no clue whats going on because a lot of movie directors have NO CLUE HOW TO PLACE MICROPHONES when shooting a scene.

Its the directors job to tell actors to speak up, too. We cant get the boom any closer to you, so stop whispering.

So thats two people now saying that the Blu Ray format is whats causing it. Should we expect to see this change in the coming years, or is this what we are stuck with? The reality is that most people dont have a surround sound system. I had suspected it was something like this.

Does anybody here have a surround sound system for their TV? Does this make it better or not make a difference?

turn up the volume because the dialog sounds like mumbling and i can't understand it

quick cut to an action scene that blows out the speakers so i hurry to turn it down

more dialog, turn it back up

repeat for two hours

Oh right. Yeah if it's on a TV channel then I dunno what you can do. They must suck at audio balance
