Apparently the Brotherhood of Steel and Super Mutants managed to make it to WV somehow.

Especially impressive for the mutants since the game takes place the same year they were created.

It's not like Bethesda cares that much about consistency and lore.

They barely acknowledge new vegas so why would they care about the past lore thats not a beths studio game

The night brims with defiled scum,and is permeated by their rotten stench.
Just think. Now you're all set to hunt and kill to your heart's content.

Well, wouldn't there potentially be survivors who aren't part of irradiated sections of the US? Maybe the Brotherhood of Steel came into the area from like, Bangor, Maine or something?

They just want to have the classics like the Brotherhood and Super mutants to have as "staples" and "selling points" - if they actually cared, they would invent new things of their own or simply set it in a time that fits with the lore.

If they made it too different people would complain about that. There's no winning.

No one would care if the BoS or Super Mutants weren't in this.

We'll never know, but given how shitty 'fans' get when a new game is 'too different' it's safe to assume how they'd react.

I love super mutants and the BoS and all, but I hate inconsistent lore even more. ^_^;;

fev experiments were going on before the bombs dropped. the institute is basically fallout's new "a wizard did it" so I can see them pulling some shit out of their ass about how the institute had controlled super mutant experiments there
idk how to explain the bos on the east coast unless someone happened to hear the first elders declaration of desertion and thought it sounded like a fun idea or some stupid shit. to say they somehow moved from the west coast to the east is doubly dum since the brotherhood's first relocation from mariposa to lost hills, both on the west coast, is described as the exodus. transcontinental travel even in 2281 is described as an arduous undertaking, at the very least you'd think there'd be some footnote about relocation in their archives
