Heres a map to help explain.

Blue dots are houses, the one circled is mine. I turn left out of the driveway, as illustrated. (On corner)

Green circles are pedestrian cars and red circle is the school bus.

Heres my question.

If the bus is two houses down picking up a kid, with traffic stopped in both directions, can I legally turn left?

My hunch says that you would need to wait until the bus is finished, but it also seems like something that could vary by state.

Perfectly legal. You can't pass them with their lights flashing, you ain't passing in this scenario.

They do. They also different by each state/province. I imagine they're consistent with how school buses are treated though.

That is legal.

You cant pass the bus, but if the bus is behind you you are fine.

Encroaching the area immediately in front of and behind the bus (say about 10-20ft) is illegal while lights are flashing. If you are a fair enough distance away, then there is no problem with you moving as described.
