Will sell for $15,000 and is 85 inches.

I knew 8K was coming up quick. I'm just going to skip 4K altogether and get an 8K tv in a couple years so I'll be on the forefront for a while. As this review mentions, Netflix is already shooting movies in 8K.

Do you really need 8k? Like for real? Is 4K not good enough? How much better can our eyes even see?

Eh, we're still barely adopting 4k, so it doesn't seem too worth it to buy right into it unless you only buy a TV once every 5-10 years.

On a 24" PC monitor, you probably wouldn't notice the difference. On an 85" screen, yeah, I'd believe it'd be noticable.

(With that being said, I can very clearly see a difference in GUIs - though not in photos / videos / games - between 1080p vs 4K on my 15.6" laptop screen, so who knows.)

There's still a lack of good 4K content all these years later. Yes, at least it's out there these days, but I expected more by now.

Who cares

Most modern programming is barely in 1080P anyway and most games can barely run smoothly in 4K as it is

Meh.

Can't game in 8 for shit even with an insane set up. The LTT guys have done "16x" gaming and it's a joke

Didn't 4k just hit 144Hz? Let's let processing hardware catch up, let's get the refresh to 240, and let's really push HDR content.
Fuck 8k. (For now.).

by the time you buy an 8k TV, 4k content will be the majority and 8k content will be virtually nonexistent. You will pay 2x as much for that 8k TV and have almost nothing to watch on it, when you could buy a really good 4k set instead for the same price and then buy an 8k TV 6-8 years from now when they're finally going mainstream

Who buys a tv more often than every 5 years or so? Why?

At this point the big advantage to 8K is it means better VR when they inevitably adapt the technology to future gen goggles.

People were saying you wouldn't be able to tell over 720, viewing distance, blah blah blah. This was like 2008ish I think. Then it happened again with phones in 2012.

By the time you buy an 8k television something else will be on the horizon. It's not like tv's will someday evolve into their final form. They'll just continually get better or offer new features.

Do you really want to wait 2 years for an 8k tv or would you rather wait 4 years for an 8k tv that also sucks you off?

I almost regret getting my 4k, or getting as nice of a one as I did. I am not a fan at all and now it seems like every channel and every show is in 4k. Shit just looks weird on a television screen.
