Running shoes are needed, but you don't generally need to abuse slide-jumps and other things like that to the same extent as Crash 2. Despite the fact it doesn't have either of the two hardest levels to platinum, I'd say Crash 2 is overall the hardest to get every platinum on - Crash 1 and 3 just have one very nasty single level each. Neither has an unreasonable timer, its more just that they are so long with soooo many places to fuck up. They're long, but they're very much a "slow and steady" challenge. The High Road fractions of a second here and there were the difference. For me, at least on Crash 1, the first time I'd actually make it through a time trial I'd get plat 99% of the time, because I was always pushing. There were only a few that I needed to shave off time on a repeat run (Generator Room, N. Sane Beach, etc). The Lab was tricky but one of the ones that I got plat the first time I finished it because, again, going full tilt you're either gonna get plat or die. Playing that way, I tended to find the longer endurance tests to be an issue. This was less true for Crash 2, where I had to step up my game and/or consult videos to move up from gold to plat multiple times.
