Ive went off on people at parties for using it though. No one ever backs me up so it probably looks embarrassing for me but I never really feel like I was out of line. People just don't like inserting themselves into awkward conversations. Which I understand.

If you disagree that it's degrading, then you have to agree that words only have the amount of power we give them, thus making the word completely useless in the first place.
