I've never put it on any application because it somehow feels wrong, despite my membership. Although, humorously my 50% Chinese heritage has resulted in several people saying they can "see" my Cherokee features lol. But yeah, I don't understand why this is a big deal. I'd have to look at my grandma's genealogy records. I've never claimed it or wanted to, I'm pretty obviously German and Slavic in my features. I always found it funny that that side of the family has nothing to do whatsoever with Indian anything but the other side of my family lives very near/amongst the Tohono O'odham community in southern Arizona, of which many were my classmates and friends growing up, and I learned a lot more about native American history from my grandfather, who was a local expert on old Indian cave paintings and helped them compile and publish data on medicinal plants. --- PSN: helicene Careful, Icarus. <cite>tamashiini posted [p:910652672] in This Eliza... For instance my grandpa's mother would have need to file for membership for my grandpa to gain benefits from what I understand. That doesn't mean he is not native american. It means he and his mother didn't feel like going through the trouble of filing and following their rules. I have an uncle who is directly native american and from what I understand he also is not a member.
