though if you feel like you only read a tiny portion and have no interest in continuing, and you hate anime NERD garbage, you should vote for the last option.

Anime was good though. First season at least. 2nd season and spinoffs.....naw.

I don't care about the blue haired girl I forgot the name of at all and didn't care for the explanations. I liked it better as a supernatural horror mystery. As soon as it had a real plot I was zoning out.

I have read the first 4 chapters of the visual novel and am waiting for chapter 8 to be released on Steam before reading all of the Answer Arcs.

Probably my favorite visual novel as of right now though.

Edit: Have not watched the anime and likely never will because I will maintain that this is impossibly difficult for anybody to adapt both faithfully and successfully.

I read the first 4 years and years ago. I want to say it was around 2010?
Really want to reread it all and actually start/finish the answer arcs. Will probably wait until they're all available on Steam. I thought it was excellent, much better than Umineko which overshadowed it somewhat. Rena the best.

Well it's simple, I heard of the hype but I just prefer manga as a medium because it's more convenient for me. Though I admit I acquired the manga through nontraditional, digital sources. But I did get wise after reading like...5 or 6 arcs and learned there was an order to the madness.

Heck, I started with Yoigoshi-hen.

Yoigoshi-hen (Beyond Midnight Chapter) is an arc that serves as an epilogue to an alternate version of Tsumihoroboshi-hen, where the school and the hostages inside were destroyed in an explosion shortly before the Great Hinamizawa Disaster occurred.

With the ban lifted a handful of different people make their way to Hinamizawa, each for their own reason. The protagonist of the story is Otobe Akira, who finds himself lost in the surrounding forest before he meets a woman who calls herself "Sonozaki Mion". The woman is on quest of her own, but for safety's sake he accompanies her further into a village that has one foot in the "land of the dead".

They aren't alone in the village. There are forces set to oppose "Mion" in her quest, and the group has to overcome them and their personal demons to get through the night.

Ironically I have read some of Umineko also, and while Higurashi is either my #1 or #2 favorite, Umineko is actually one of my least favorite VN's.

I am in the middle of attempting to reread Umineko from a slightly different perspective, but I haven't really gotten far enough to re-form an opinion yet.

Anyways arc ranking of Higurashi because why not: 1 > 2 > 3 > 4. I have read a bit of chapter 5 and it was shaping up to be one of the strongest though, especially if my suspicions about chapter 2 are correct (I'm somewhat confident they are).

it's probably not that strange. I guess I haven't read a ton of visual novels so it's not like I have the premiere opinion of a seasoned expert, but umineko would be at the bottom of what I have read and higurashi would be at or near the top.

I haven't either to be fair, I've probably only read about 20 or so?

Also the only VN I've read that I would outright say is bad is probably Muv-Luv Extra, so "one of my least favorite" is not as strong a statement as it could be.

It's no Fata Morgana for sure, but so far I have enjoyed Umineko.
