I understand my observations might be purely anecdotal, but I find it hard to believe that craft beer is "in the toilet." Microbreweries are opening in my area nonstop, and only one or two have closed. The best craft breweries have people lining up in droves for can releases. People are willing to spend hundreds of dollars on beer at $4-5 a pint can. "It's snowing outside so there is so such thing as global warming." Kids these days drink less. A lot don't drink at all. And the ones that do, often drink spirits and ignore beer. Your buddies drinking a lot doesn't change this ongoing trend in the west that has been happening for years and is only getting worse. It's not just my buddies though, some of these places have to be making $100,000 in revenue on a good day, which seems like a shit load of money for a microbrewery. It seems like a shitload of money because it's a number your making up in your head. What? No it's not. Tree House Brewing has gotten crowds of 2,000 people total throughout the day, that's a fact. Some people spend hundreds of dollars there but let's say conservatively the average is $50 (which would be like taking home 12 pint cans).
