All three are considered pretty amazing. I wouldn't say any are particularly weak but I like Yoshi's Island the least.

YI is fun and well designed but Mario centric games are just better. Not sure if I like 3 or World more. 3 has the edge I think due to some fatal flaws in World.

Difficulty, power ups, themes etc.

For me it's Yoshi's Island. Definitely still a good game but it doesn't really compare to World or 3.

Super Mario Bros 3 was pretty damn great in 1988, or 1990. It eventually became fucking awesome in 1993.

Yoshi's Island is a good game but goes on for way too long and doesn't have the fun factor of the other two. It's more of a "I have to beat this level" kind of thing than the "Wow, this is fun!" of the others.

Some people are just going to pick the one on the oldest system/least modern no matter what. It's unfortunate that it's the way it goes. "It didn't age well" or some other reason that the oldest one, no matter how good it was, is just too archaic.

But yeah, it would be baffling that so many people would pick 3 over SMW2 if you don't keep in mind a lot of people will immediately write off the NES and think the older the game is, automatically the worse entry it is.

I don't think SMW2 is garbage by any means, but it's in no way in the same league as 3 and SMW.

most people here are saying they love them all, just that 3 would be on the bottom. theyre not calling it garbage or anything (even tho you did do that for yoshi >_>...)

YI and SMW are two games I grew up on so I'll have to go with 3. Fully admit that my nostalgia goggles are locked and loaded, though.

I'd say Yoshi's Island is the "worst" but only because it is so different.

3 would be the best if it had saving IMO. All Stars feels too different for saving to make it better.

I don't think most people are even voting for 3? It seems like YI is the least loved.

I love all three of them, but Yoshi's Island is the weakest link. It has less exploration than the other games.

There are plenty of hidden locations, and you can tell that they really poured their hearts and souls into making the game great, but it's much more linear than the other two games. Part of the fun of Super Mario Bros. 3 was being able to choose your own path and forging new paths was a major part of Super Mario World. That's completely absent from Yoshi's Island. Also, while Baby Mario isn't as annoying as people make him out to be, I think the game would've been better served to have left him out altogether.

It's still a tremendous game.

Yoshi's Island. it's not a bad game but....its not as good as a normal mario game. and 3 is the best 2d mario game in my opinion.

yoshi's island is a bad game, 3 is good and world is the best 2d platformer ever made, even by today's standards

I often argue with myself that World has a better engine but 3 has better level design.
That said, Yoshi's the worst; both (engine/levels) are terrible and it makes you feel obligated to 100% which is just not fun.
