I feed stray cats in my backyard every night, but when I went out today, I found a kitten deceased under a bench in my backyard >_> It was kinda upsetting to see. I have no clue what could've happened though; it didn't look like anything preyed on it and it probably didn't die of hunger.

So I spent 10 minutes digging a hole in the yard and buried it since it seemed like the right thing to do for it. But man, this really put a damper on my evening

ive raised a lot of baby kittens, and sometimes you just inevitably lose one no matter how hard you try to save it :(.

This has been my experience as well. It's like there's a timer on some of them and when it goes there's nothing you could have done to stop it. Best not to think about it too much or blame yourself, it just happens.

I tend not to watch abuse videos. It's unnecessary. Like, people do messed up stuff, this isn't news. I remember stories of people stitching kitten's eyes closed, fireworks up animal asses etc.

Sorry to hear you had to see a dead kitten today. Unfortunately, strays can get a lot of sicknesses and ailments that you can't help unless you pay for medical treatment.

i know of one abuse video where some guys threw a dog off a building. could hear the dog yelping in pain and i wanted to fucking hurt those people who did it if i could but the laws of the US prevents everyone from enacting justice.

You shouldnt feel bad. You are nice enough to feed the strays as it is. That is way more then what other people would do. As someone who loves cats I thank you for what you do.

How big was the kitten? Often male cats will kill them if they cross into their territory, they basically bite them on the scruff and shake them to death. If it was a bigger kitten that's not likely though.

One time i found a little bunny by by mailbox, poor thing was ripped open at his stomach and had maybe a few hours left at most, i took him to the back yard and gave him some lettuce and put him in the shade, i buried him when i got back from class an hr later.

It looked like a hawk or bird of some sorts got a hold of him, he was done for sure unfortunately.

I found a kitten on the side of the road near my house once. It looked like it was run over but it was still alive. It was covered in fleas and couldn't move. I have no idea where it came from. I spent hours trying to bring him around but nothing was working.

I eventually had to end it myself, he was broken inside. He couldn't even move really. I buried him back in the woods and always felt bad about that to this day wondering if he could have been saved but if you saw him you'd say no.

if he wants to give kittens away. rather drive them to an animal shelter instead of the various methods to put them out of their misery.

maybe then they would have a chance.

Even vets might just say it's a quality of life issue unless you want to pay big money for a lot.
