There's a lot of different directions they could take it.

A Resident Evil 7 successor seems the most obvious. RE7 was great and I feel like they could do a lot more with that formula. I hope they make the RE2 for RE7. More monsters, a bigger scope, crazy unlockables etc. I wouldn't even mind if they brought back the old T-Virus zombies for it. Playing RE7 in VR was such a treat and I hope that comes back too. Might be used as a way to hype up PS5 VR.

I hope they keep the 'coop shooter' style in the spin-offs/Revelations style games. But my concern is that RE5 and RE6 sold a lot so they might want to go back to that.

RE2 Remake seems like a balance between them but I dunno if I want them to go that style for RE8. Hell I think I'd even rather them remake RE3 in that style and keep the numbered series as this first person horror thing for at least a trilogy and do something new for RE10.

One thing I liked about REVII that hasn't been a thing in RE for a long time was bringing back that feeling of being trapped in a memorable location. The Spencer Estate, the Police Station/Raccoon City and now the Baker House. I hope we see a return of that in RE8.

True. Have any of the games mentioned what's going on there? I seem to vaguely recall them mentioning the event but not what has happened there since.

Not going to happen. If I recall the ending of RE3 confirms that tactical nukes were used which leave behind a lot of fallout that can last for a very long time. Most of the character would be long dead by the time the land is habitable again.

One thing I thought could be fleshed out a bit more in RE7 was the videotape mechanic. I thought that was really cool but there really wasn't many of them.

Maybe in RE8 you could play through those sequences finding smartphones or something. Use them more for puzzles too. Like how the two tapes with the reality show cameraman were used to find the secret entrance or sequence breaking a puzzle. They were really nifty ideas.

Yeah but Wesker is a guy who wears sunglasses and a trench coat. Who teleports and fights like he's in The Matrix. I don't think he really fits unless they're going for over the top action.

I think they should move away from these super-powered weapon characters in general. *RE7 spoilers*Eveline is the worst antagonist in RE7 because of all of that cheesy ass lore around her.

Ah I haven't played the DLC yet.

Again I think the stuff towards the end of RE7 was when the game started to falter a bit. I'm not even sure how that ship ended up in the swamp and the game trying to claim that Eveline's powers and the Molded were all because she was a biological weapon was a bit silly.

The twist that she was the old lady in the wheelchair barely even makes sense.

I can't help but see Wesker as the cheesy Matrix rip-off guy who gets into over the top martial arts fights with Chris.

I'm curious what you find cheesy about Eveline. Her abilities are pretty in-line with the stuff we've seen in the series so far. Just instead of mutating and growing ten feet tall, she spreads the Mold which creates MoldyMen.

I only watched a Let's Play of the End of Zoe, but that's enough to say that its story is utter garbage.

It was more of a mix that the evil little girl trope is way overplayed which made her way less interesting than the Bakers and trying to explain all of the supernatural/ghost stuff as a hallucination (that I guess she can control over long distances unless she wheeled her ass into that ship somehow) felt like a copout.

I think FEAR handled the similar plotline a lot better. This felt like a sloppy copycat in comparison.

It wasn't a big deal or anything though. I just thought she was the weakest link in the game.

I havent played 6 or 7, but I would like to see the next entry be more like RE4.

RE5 was okay, but it really was a departure from the series in many ways. The game was flat out not scary, at all. Most of it took place in the daytime which seriously took away from the atmosphere.The whole horde element needs to immediately disappear from survival horror. You got swarmed in RE4, but it wasnt the endless waves of enemies that you face in the later entries. The bosses were all generic and boring. Omg, shoot the orange orb on the monster that looks exactly like the past boss!

There also should not be QTE sequences.

Either that or a game based around another city, or even a research facility in the mountains of Alaska.

Files are there to read fam. 7 had a lot of flaws but Evelin's is toned down when it comes to things like the ouroboros, super weaker, or even the A twins. She's actually really similar to the twins in a lot of ways lore wise.

Same. Any of those would be dope. TBH I just want T-virus and maybe a form of G-virus at the most. Maybe a nemesis style villain if they had to do something crazy.

I just want regular damn zombies in a setting where they're a threat because of ammo conserve and a spooky af atmosphere.

I can see that, fair enough. I will say that being able to control it over long distance makes some sense. My impression was that Eveline essentially was the Mold, so she had influence wherever the Mold was. Sort of like the Zerg and the creep from Starcraft.
