Last two are especially damning, considering my tastes.

Bebop is relaxing for anyone that hasn't watched and an important starting point to the Chill Trilogy (feat. Samurai Champloo and Michiko to Hatchin).

Evangelion is alright. Similar character arc as Gundam, similar dangers as Ideon, that kinda thing. Definitely more interesting having experience in the genre, but also impossible to have discussion about. I.e., people either have seen the above and think Eva's a rip off, or they haven't and think it's the only mecha worth watching (unless you also mention Gurren Lagann...).

I don't watch Kamen Rider myself, but yeah, I've noticed a good amount of overlap in the fanbases of all the major Toei franchises.

As for your idea of a super Precure that could combine the powers of all the others... some fans are already speculating that Hugtan might become that at the end of Hugtto. I mean, even in her current baby form, she has enough magical power to summon Precure from entirely different worlds. If they find a way to get her back to her true form (she lost a lot of her power and was de-aged when she and Harry pulled a Future Trunks and escaped back in time from a ruined future), Hugtan could potentially approach reality-bending levels of power. If that is the grand finale that Hugtto has planned... my god...

Some fans are guessing that it'll have an idol theme, while others think it might be a space/astronomy theme. I hope it's the latter rather than the former. Also worth noting: there was already a Precure in a past series (Go Princess Precure) who went by the name of Cure Twinkle, so the name choice seems odd for that reason. Maybe the idea of in-series crossovers may not end with Hugtto, and we could see Cure Twinkle (or other past Precure that fit the theme, like Cure Moonlight) make appearances in this upcoming series as well.

review starlight: wow, this show was way better than I was expecting. Wasn't super hyped about first few episodes but things just always get more and more interesting and I think a lot of the characters have reasonable yet unique character flaws that get tied extremely well into the story. there's only really one or two choices for "best" girl but I'd have a hard time picking a worst since none of them are really bad or boring which is something I haven't seen in a long time.

Mostly though I'm impressed by the planning and framing of scenes. Like, the angles, the cuts, what they show, what they don't, the constant nods and callbacks to previous scenes not in a explicitly mentioned way but just in how the shot itself is laid out. I don't think I've ever watched anything that does that this well and it just really makes me feel the amount of care and effort put into the visuals even though there are cases that look "bad" from a technical animation standpoint.

I'm a little cheesed by the subs I had not translating a lot of the songs, since they're fairly relevant and it's a dumb thing to miss. Also sometimes the ED was subbed and sometimes it wasn't even when it was the same song |:. My number one TL bother was that I think something was really lost in TL when , a recurring line, became "Let us compete in song and dance". Sure, can mean that sort of competing like that, but then you lose what I think they were really going for (especially as the story progresses and the giraffe emphasizes this word more and more) is that can mean to steal/take something from someone and thus has more of a "stealing from each other" meaning in this case.

also gets bonus points for one of the more unique transformation(?) sequences I've seen lol

Which subs did you use? HorribleSubs and the official HiDive subs were mediocre at best.

It is, and one of the best fansubbers for the anime (StarlightSubs) actually stopped subbing the anime halfway so they could focus on subbing the stage plays. I watched the show using StarlightSubs until episode 5, then switched to FlySubs for the rest of the way because they were usually the fastest ones released. Throwing in an alternate meme subs track was a bonus too.

I watched both of those shows when they aired on toonami. If it wasn't for them airing on toonami, I never would have stuck with watching them on my own.
In a nutshell, they both bored me to tears. Samurai Champloo made me think I was watching the Pokemon anime. Every episode started with them dragging their asses to the next town, complaining about being starving, where they then meet the character and villain of the week. Rinse repeat. Just like Pokemon, back when I watched it as a kid.

Michitrash and Hatchet.... lol. Ugliest, trashiest characters I've seen in an anime and plot that puts me to sleep.

I'm a fan of chill, relaxing, comfy shows. But neither of those fit the bill for me, personally.
