Hey all!
Right off the bat, lemme admit that I suck with cars.

So my 2015 WRX does this thing when it starts to get cold (well, it did it last year and luckily resolved itself -- now it's done it agaun), wherein it will either not start, or start but jack-up the display.

Even though the electronics and lights operate when it doesn't start, it oddly DOES seem to start when jumped.

Here's what the dash looks like whether or not it starts -- most warnings are on, the digital speedometer doesn't work, and cruise control is disabled. Again, last year I believe it just randomly resolved itself after a few days or a week or something. But if it's something serious, I feel like I should address it.

Any ideas?

That's always my go-to, but then people are like, "ARGH IT CAN'T BE THE BATTERY IF YOUR LIGHTS AND RADIO AND STUFF ARE WORKING."

And I lack the sufficient knowledge to retort lol.

could be a poor electrical connection somewhere, or a poor solder joint on a control board or a relay. cold weather makes metal contract so if there's an iffy connection it'll be exacerbated.

then again, the last time I had to diagnose electrical gremlins was in the pre-OBD2 era so ymmv

The diagnostic tool said it needs an ECU replacement. But I may replace the battery just for the heck of it and see what happens.
