Pretty much an instant turn off for me as a person.

I'm not talking like a significant distance away where the person who the door is being held for has to do a small sprint/jog to get in, but rather close/sequentially behind.

Past few cases have had it open for them and they slide through with minimal contact with the door, causing usually a small bump/stall if at all. No hands used and I don't think any shoulders were used.

I find most people say thank you. But whether or not they do, it only takes a few seconds. I can spare a few seconds here or there to be polite.

If I am on the side that the door opens to, I will let someone on the other side out first if we both are trying to use that door at the same time or if I leave from the opposite side the door opens from and someone is right there coming in. If I am just catching the door so it doesn't slam in someone's face I am less expectant of a thank you, that's the point where a thank you is nice but doesn't bother me.

I was amazed when I went to college and people would stop and hold the door open for you. I my experience the point was to knock people over pushing them out of the way so you would get there first.

Turns out my school district growing up was just full of assholes.

But what's to be said about the person that stops to hold the door when you are too far way, forcing you to do this awkward trot to catch up?

I just instinctively open the door for others if there are people behind me. I don't expect thanks but I usually get them. I notice it's usually the uglier and poorer types who don't or won't open doors.
