No but it's more tolerable than other forms of rap because I can put on the nostalgia goggles and listen to it through a historical filter.

Had to look that up after hearing it referenced in a newish Mariah Carey song.

Some of it. I don't get how you can ask this question seriously about any genre tbh. Some is good some sucks balls.... The ratio is all that changes.

I'd say most current (popular) hip-hop or rap is quite lame. I heard the songs every day practically and none of they are quite forgettable.

I would say late 80s to early 90s, so that includes the 90s as well. But that era doesn't include Melle Mel/Furious Five who could be the best ever.

Gangsta rap has good music but it did so much to ruin the genre.

This is a highly agreeable post.

I should've said late 80s to early 90s.

The 2000s+ has been by far and away the best era for rap.

90s Memphis lo-fi/horrorcore absolutely deserves a mention though. Its probably the most significant and influential scene, even if its not overtly obvious.

Gangsta rap made rap mainstream fam. White mothers and fathers in the suburbs were raging about how popular it was becoming despite "banning" it from their household

I think Wayne would be hot if it weren't for Birdshit >.>

If you're talking strictly post 2000, then obviously KDot and Drake run the game rn

If it's just 2000-2009 the you're prolly right

Wayne still hot. He had a number one album. Haven't read recent reports but I swear I seen him get 480k in album sales off streams alone for Carter 5.
