Board 8 > Why are people who aren't Anti Kanto hating Lets Go Pikachu and Eevee?

We've literally asked for a Yellow remake for years and years and years and years....

Now we are getting one, and not just Pikachu follows us around, but a second Pokmon does too.

Its Yellow on steroids. Exactly what everyone requested. People wanted Thunder Yellow so much we got so many April Fools jokes about it?

Why the fuck am I the only one so fucking hyped I can cry about this?

Because people think it's a dumbing down of the core Pokemon experience, which to be fair it IS but that doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be bad because of that

Also it's always been viewed as a side thing anyway while the next core game comes out next year

Its not Gen 8, but its definitely still seems to be in the real games.

You dont need to weaken a Pokemon before catching. In fact no fighting Wild

You cant challenge yiurself to a gym without having Pokemon in party with specific weakness

Pokemon fandom doesn't follow logic.

Artistically, its so generic and uninspired. Like, Pokmon Quest is more inspired. Granted, Im biased because I became obsessed with RBY when I was like 8, but the magic of those games is in the details. Its in the almost haunting quality of the chiptune music and sound effects, the weird sprites, the mystery of it all.

Ive continued to follow the series for the gameplay and battle mechanics, and consider Sun & Moon the best generation since III. The Lets Go games just seem like theyve subtracted any semblance of depth or intrigue while catering to fans of the anime.

You just have to show him one to enter the gym originally. Once youve done that you can use whoever. Sucks for speed runners, no one else should really care about the 20 seconds to switch a Pokmon at the Poke center

They've emphasized how friendly the rival is, which feels like a slap in the face to people that like jerk rivals like Blue and Silver and find the "friendly" ones boring.

Theyve been using friendly rivals for a while sadly. They even recently mentioned why. It was something about how back then it was a lot harder to express the characters so it was easier to make the rival a jerk to give him character.

Thats my problem with most of this. These same people who BEGGED for a Yellow remake are somehow mad about a superior Yellow remake then we would have gotten.

It's coming out 14 years after FireRed/LeafGreen on an HD console and yet will still manage to have notably less content.

Blue/Gary was a huge reason RBY were so amazing.

I'm more interested in this game than I have been the last 2 Generations so count me in

Thats my problem with most of this. These same people who BEGGED for a Yellow remake are somehow mad about a superior Yellow remake then we would have gotten.

Im indifferent to the aspects of Yellow that made it more like the anime. Im just saying, I have no interest in revisiting the locales of the original games if the aesthetics are going to be completely different and modernized, bearing no resemblance to what endeared me to the franchise in the first place.

And that's only true for one gym so far. It's been said that other gyms have different conditions, such as "Have a Pokemon at Level X"

Anyhoo, there are things to dislike about it, sure, but people have a reeeeally hard time accepting a "Just don't buy it, then" response. Nintendo have flat out said a more traditional game is in the works for next year, but people still want to endlessly bitch about LGPE and put down anybody that wants to get it because ???. People get pretty upset when not every single Pokemon game is aimed for them, apparently.

Pokemon yellow didnt have noob features when it came out and we all completed it just fine

But I would have been ok with a remake too...if it was a proper remake, including the Sevii Islands, all 807 Pokemon(809), Gen 7 exp system and mechanics...some new areas and stuff
Yes, that could have been interesting

But you get what? Only 153 Pokemon, no Sevii Islands and probably no new areas, Kanto is super simple to begin with and it looks like it will be the exact same
Not only 153 are barely enough but seeing them in the overworld makes completing the dex a breeze
You will get a diploma in 12 hours and drop the game forever

Btw I am one of those rare people that actually think the graphics are good
The characters model sucks but I like the rest

I'm not necessarily anti-Kanto, but only 153 pokemon is a big downer. I like in-game pokemon variety and using pokemon that I've never used before.

But I'm also not the target audience because I'm not big on remakes (FRLG is the only remake I've played).

I'm not too worried about that. Maybe I'm out of the loop, but it's been months since I've seen anyone even talk about this game existing. If it weren't for MWC's accounts I would have forgotten it was coming out.

It's like four games too late to be worrying about this IMO. "Less effort" has been the name of the game for everything past XY and arguably for everything past BW2. To this day the Battle Frontier "tease" in Omega/Alpha is one of the most insulting things I've ever seen in a video game.

Frankly, it's quite reasonable to count the alolan variants as different Pokemon, making the count > 153.

starter eevee can't evolve and wild eevee only have 3 out of the 8 choices. for having eevee in the title that's pretty bad. likewise not even being able to get scizor, kingdra, etc. i just don't see any reason to play this over FRLG. at least that had a few more options in the post-game. this just takes stuff out and makes it more like Go, which is complete trash.
