Speaking honestly, I'm both reasonably active and not toxic to play with - being excluded because somebody who's notoriously poisonous says so is the height of silliness, especially since you have firsthand experience with me being a perfectly nice player. It says everything that this decision is so random and unilateral I didn't even know about it. We can safely disregard it, and if Chris doesn't want to play over it, more's the pity.

listen i have done incredibly questionable etiquette stuff re: mafia so i mean, if i am not banned from the community then why is kanz.

i have been very very bad in the past. i would ban myself. so if kanz is banned, ban me too. i dont know the circumstances so i say this from a neutral perspective. i've gone off after losing games, i've considered modkilling myself as a death miller. ive been pretty damn bad but im still accepted in the community. so i vouch, without knowing chris' beef, for kanz to not be banned for an arbitrary reason.

So anyway it's been awhile, as all things are often done on this board of ours, and while I doubt it is archived or anything Kanz signed up for some games and didn't do such a great job in them several times in a row (Mostly to do with very poor activity and other anti-faction behavior) to the point that he got a spot on the ban list that was posted in discussion topics. This isn't anything new and if someone wants to argue that old behavior should be forgiven I guess that's an argument to make, but I don't like playing with people who get themselves put into that situation in the first place, just my preference.

Although I will say I am like Ben's favorite player to watch play due to the way I play so I think calling me poisonous may be a mistake in tactic there. I am pretty much the exact opposite of a notoriously poisonous player. I tend to elevate any game I am in (when I am not high after death, sorry Suprak) and make games more exciting and fun, as well as being one of the premiere hosts on the board. Pretty interesting that you attack me for just enforcing an old ban. Wasn't unilateral or anything at the time, everyone was like "yeah Kanz sucks for this whole mafia thing let's not do that any more."

I could legitimately not tell you. It's been awhile but our banned list was always pretty short and I remembered Kanz' name was on it. Like I said if people want to say 'well Chris it has been awhile maybe he should be given a shot' I mean sure but then he comes in and calls me poisonous and tries to claim this stuff never even happened (which showed how little he cared about mafia that his past behavior doesn't even register to him) so I mean yeah!

I have not called you out for this where you could see this before. I've let you live your own life, because I've learned that obsessing over terrible people only makes you as terrible as them. But if it comes down to you saying it's you or me for the spot, which is what our host told me you'd threatened him with, I will not hold back on calling you out. To be clear, it's hard for me to factor in a person's past behavior or mistakes, as I was not here to experience them. And if someone has changed their ways since then I think they should be forgiven. So there's no way I can be convinced to cut Chris based on that. I've also had at least one positive mafia experience with Kanz, so it's hard for me to cut him based on those reasons too. If I don't allow someone to play, it's just on principal.

And I think Chris' intention was also a matter of principal - to stick by the rules. Why make banned lists if not to follow them? If they weren't being followed he didnt want to play. It's understandable. So the real question should be how relevant the ban list still is today. If I'm hosting on B8 I have an obligation to acknowledge something like that. I'm not meaning to personally attack or distrust you or anything Kanz

Having listened to the recording: Chris, I think we can play the game together. I also think it's fair to not want to share the game with someone you don't like. I respect that decision.

Having only my personal experiences to go off of, I came away with a very poor impression of you last time we spent a significant amount of time together (to my great disillusionment, because I had at one point wanted to make peace and give you a second chance). If you've truly changed, that's a great thing and I'm glad to hear it. I'm gonna have to see it to believe it because of how things went down last time you said it - but I won't just assume somebody's a snake for life just because they were bad people once. If I did I wouldn't be able to face myself in the mirror either.

I think the voice recording was helpful here, since it conveyed tone better. I'm not sure if we'll play again at some point, but I did want to say I can at least respect the way you explained things. Apologies to everyone else for the abrasiveness of my previous posts, I was just getting flashbacks of some past clashes with Chris and reacted pretty strongly. Hopefully with this, we can keep things cool now and not escalate the topic further.

I will say, Kanz, that the last time I was dealing with a loss of a friend on top of a death of a friend and forcing myself into situations of tremendous stress and competitiveness along with a friend who was himself ... a bit overboard in his neediness for my attention was a recipe for disaster.

I don't consider myself a bad person for anything I did from June 2016 to November 2016. Just a very broken one.

Also I will remain very grateful the worst thing I did during that time was say bad things on the internet.

I don't think it matters at this point, but Kanz has been in a couple games of mine and he was great to have in. Quality player with good activity, and that can be hard to come by these days! I didn't even know he was banned at one point, but I'd say enough time has passed that it should be reconsidered anyway. And that's without even taking into account his good behavior in all the games he's been in since then!
