I had three minutes to spare, but I could have probably done it in 2:10.

They watered down Valkyria Chronicles 4 to not give us S Rank, too. I would have easily gotten the requirements for it, though.

Yeah, the Japanese S rank is apparently the same as the American A.

I guess they just switched it to match American grading systems.

There are plenty of green herbs, though. There were fewer red herbs than I would have liked, but I probably ran past some without noticing because I was focusing on time.

I took some damage in a pincer attack from two dogs and then I took some damage from the plant things because I messed up my aim. The crows also got me and I took some random bites from zombies (mostly in the beginning).

You can save. The ranks in RE2 are based on a score system. You need over 270 points for A rank. Going by this IGN page I found, you get 100 points for no saves and it's lowered by 5 each time you use one. So with OP's time and first aid spray uses, he actually could have saved six times.

But if you're trying to speedrun it in two hours, I could understand not even bothering to save.

Also, as he pointed out, the score apparently doesn't count herb uses, just first aid sprays. So healing's not a huge issue.

hmm, the old guide i remember said "no spray, no bazooka except on T2, max 3 save, under 2:30 for best rank.
i actually only know it was point based from this topic.
