I had an interesting conversation with a few political science guys and something they've observed is that the things millennials say when talking with boomers are very similar to, if not exactly the same as, the things their (grand)parents said during the Great Depression.

Things like "I'm working three jobs, but I'm not going out for food this week so I can make the rent"

This line of thinking has never made any sense to me, since I was old enough to understand the terms. Along the same vein as racism or sexism. Generalizing an enormous group of people as if they weren't all unique. I just don't get it.

Boomers don't hate millennials as much as the media likes to push they do.

There is always some division between generations and always will be when the child grows up enough to replace the parent.

My mother told me how her grandmother said her she cut her long hair in flapper style and dressed differently than her parents and they thought the young generation was going to Hell in a handbasket but they were still their kids. Just something different and kids want to do something different. Then we have the 50's teens who's parents were worried about their music, dress and so on but I don't think it is hate.

Many millennials remind me of the hippies which many of the boomers were or lived alongside the movement.

It will never change. The child rejects the parent and the parent shakes their head at the child but it is still parent and child relationship.

I don't think it's hatred. It's probably apathy.
Most boomers are just greedy jerks, who'd be fine w/ the earth being uninhabitable for human life in 50 years if it meant they'd each get a $1000 check in the mail, because it won't be their problem.

I definitely think we have a lot more in common w/ our grandparents than our parents. I certainly do...
My parents hoard stupid plastic junk. My grandparents stockpiled food and necessities.
My parents get take out all the time and almost never cook. My grandparents almost never ate out, cooking all their meals at home and in general eating more healthy.
My parents divorced and treated relationships frivolously. My grandparents were married to each other until death did them part.
My parents like the stock market. My grandparents were leery of it and only did limited investing in it.

Really, my entire outlook on life has largely boiled down to, "learn from my grandparents, and try to have as little in common with my parents' lifestyle choices as possible."
