I forgot a decent amount of stuff but this game is still a blast to playthrough. I'm still having fun just climbing mountains and looking for shrines. I'm going to do the divine beasts in a different order and see how it changes my experience.

Also, Link and Mipha fucked each other right? >_>

There's some areas where I think it could be better

Namely story, dungeons, bosses, and enemy variety

But still the game is goddamn spectacular

I'm saving my second playthrough for a special occasion. I started up my first playthough right after we narrowly dodged Hurricane Irma's full wrath. Plus I still need to dl and play the DLC.

I really need to start BotW back up.

1) game launches
2) I spend like fifty hours just totally enthralled with running around in whatever direction I feel like, never even approaching a dungeon
3) my wedding happens and I move, so I dont play for about a month
4) I start back up, get overwhelmed because I have no idea where I am, and never play again xfd

im still on my first playthru and did gerudo, zora, goron, and rito order

im really enjoying it but the weapon breaking system is honestly annoying af

im fine with it for most weapons but the master sword shouldn't lose power if you use it for 5 minutes

Certainly better quests, story, characters. I don't know if you could make a legitimate argument that Witcher 3 had better puzzles, though, and the challenges that BotW posed to you before you understood every little mechanic and had the ability to skip things with Gale or stamina refills were quite interesting compared to just riding between sites in Witcher 3.

Also leave that inter species degeneracy to deviantart ffs TC. ;-)

Those are two HUGE complaints, though! It's not like you thought his clothes could've been cooler or the visual effect of the fire could've been better or something. Shitty music or a lack of it is a huge problem and bad dungeons are unforgivable.

Yeah I dont get people that say BotW has no music. Just because the score isnt loud and overbearing doesnt mean that its not there. Music on video games should be background noise that adds to the atmosphere of the game.

Imagine if OoT only had "situation music" and no themes for the areas. Gerudo Valley without that music...God damn, that's a miserable thought.

Idk how they're gonna follow up botw tho

I have had an idea for a while.

Split the game up between overworld and underworld. The underworld is where all the dungeons are, but are all interconnected. It opens up like a Metroidvania game where the more dungeon items you acquire, the deeper you can go in until the central dungeon, which is the endgame and can't be entered from the overworld. The underworld has multiple entrances and can be started anywhere to keep BotW's freedom in the overworld intact. After defeating an underworld boss, you're transported back to the overworld and a story event occurs (an idea to have a more involved story).

Expand on the durability system. Make them less fragile except for wooden weapons, all other weapons can be upgraded, and the durability just affects effectiveness and they dull rather than become useless. When these weapons get upgraded they offer unique attributes which can still encourage people to use more weapons, but they'll feel like they aren't forced to. This can also make finding weapons as treasures more rewarding, since it's another weapon you can have. Can probably keep the inventory limit so you won't be sifting through a huge list of weapons, but offer a place to store your weapons and other items, other than like 5 mounts on your wall.

Music is secondary to gameplay. Ive never put any more thought into video game music than like>dont like. Dont like? Put on headphones and listen to music. I guess thats from being an old timer playing NES and SNES.

Also Metroid Prime did fine not recycling the entirety of Metroids music and it was incredible at adding to the atmosphere of the game.

Fair enough then. Maybe I just dont put that much stock in a games musical score that its a con for me in BotW.

The music was a big part in what made Hyrule Castle my personal favorite / most epic final dungeon since Kefka's Tower.

And while I'm not saying that BotW's hyper-minimalist approach to the overworld score was perfect, as has been pointed out many, many times by many, many people, having the dramatic Zelda fanfare on an endless loop as you spend hours in the overworld would have made you despise it. You either accept this design concept, or you don't. And this is coming from someone who was raised on (obviously) Final Fantasy 6 and other memorable SNES / PSX soundtracks (not directed at TC, just in general).
