The Saline County Sheriff's Office in Missouri arrested a man for animal abuse after they say he shot a dog in the face.

The sheriff's office says the Slater animal pound found a female pit bull with a gunshot wound to the head on Oct. 9.

It was picked up by Unleashed Pet Rescue and Adoption on Oct. 12. A few days later, on Oct. 16, the pet rescue filed a report of animal abuse. As a result of the investigation, authorities arrested Harley Mobley and charged him with animal abuse, a class E felony.

According to an affidavit obtained by PEOPLE Magazine, Mobley told police was going to put Gloria down because he thought she had rabies and didnt have no time for the vet that morning.

Gloria had to have surgery to repair her injuries. She is now recovering in foster care.

Mobley is being held on a $7,500 bond.

Man that sounds like a low bond to me.

A man who is prepared to shoot animals in the face on the streets sounds like a dangerous cat. Bond should be expensive.

You're overreacting. The guy thought he was doing the right thing here. The dog (he thought) had rabies. What else could have been done for it?
