But it was most certainly tense and atmospheric which is more important for a horror game to me. That's one of the most mainstream genres in the industry and it's a sequel to one of the most iconic franchises in gaming. If a sequel for Gears of War, The Last of Us or Uncharted only managed to cough up a 74 metacritic that would be a massive disappointment. This is not good because new players are gonna see these lame reactions and either go into it with a bias or avoid it altogether. There were other behind the shoulder Resident Evil games released since 6 and they did fine, and the 2 remake is the same way. They switched to Resident Evil 7 because of the resurgence of spooky horror games culminating with P.T.
