Some Canadian nut was influenced by Thanos in Infinity War and decided that he was right, overpopulation is the cause of all of Earth's problems and culling half the world will fix everything. So she makes it a reality but unfortunatelty she vanished as well in the random draw so no one knows how she did it or even that she did it or any way to undo it.



You're walking down the streets with your friends when suddenly you hear car screeching and look around to see cars with no drivers, then you see kids and couples vanishing.

A big black British man called Wesley clasps you by the shoulder says "[Your Affectionate Nickname], I don't feel so good." then collaspes into your arms and vanishes.

Your friends are all gone, you look around and half the population is gone. Donald Trump is gone, Alice Cooper is gone. No rhyme or reason, race/sex/rich/poor doesn't matter. Most of India is gone. As if 50% of the population picked at random just stopped existing.

How do you think you would react?

How do you think the world would react going forward?

Would there be war? If so by who?

It depends which half disappeared. Not all places are of equal importance to growth and stability and their vanishing wouldn't really matter.

if this were all life and not just all humans, literal colony collapse syndrome since a lot of species are integral to survival of others

Absolute chaos. We'd have the same amount of infrastructure to run, but only half the people. Workers would have to work crazy double days to prevent everything from collapsing.

No rhyme or reason or pattern. Rich/poor, Asian/Hispanic, Tall/Short, Smart/dumb.

Half of them are gone

Most of Norway is still there
Most of India is gone.

But everyone else is like 50-50

eh not really, demand would also be halved.

depends on the statistics of the percentage of eradication .
If 30% people from china or usa disappear , then the world economy would be in huge instability.

But , if it's distributed amongs all countries (50% of each people with unique jobs in every country) then people would have higher standard of life

But you'd still see literal planes dropping from the sky, markets in freefall, families devastated, and reactionary violence and chaos around the globe. We would come out of the recovery period way worse comparatively than we were before the tragedy.
