He made a career out of being a pro gamer competitor and is now somewhat "famous" in the online gaming realm. He goes by Overton as his Marksman online name and says his income can go from 300,000 to 500,000 a year as he plays games all day in the comfort of his home... He told the Des Moines Register "I never thought i was going to make money from this. I literlaly only did it because i liked to do it" He earns a salary through an esports company, Counter Logic Gaming who hired him to play Fortnite as he's made his money from cash prizes in video game tournaments Nick has won over 38,000 smackers from 6 different tournaments and earns more income on Youtube and Twitch where he streams himself playing Fortnite Gamers who post videos on Youtube are often partnered with networsk who pay them a percentage from advertisments Money made on Twitch is when people view the stream and tip the gamer a few dollars or subscribe and if they sub, he gets a percentage paid to him. He has well over 930,000 subs on Youtube and 3.5 MILLION views on Twitch. When Fortnite puts out a patch, he wakes up at 3AM to create a video revealing the software developments and updates to the game and will work several HOURS before posting it. One thing he admits, he NEVER goes out with friends...EVER because he's streaming EVERYDAY so he has no social life as his passion for video games have been strong since got an N64 for Christmas as a kid.. His path to full time gaming happened after graduating the University of Iowa and with a journalism degree in 2013..but he bagged that degree after getting a contract with streamup, a streaming company. He quit his job with them and focused on content creation as he said he's made more money streaming and doing youtube than working for them and he doesn't have to answer to anyone but himself now. His parents don't particularly agree with his new way of making income but after seeing he's made it, they aren't objecting anymore and although people don't often see it as a "real job", Nick says he's got the money to PROVE IT....
