2013's a good while back. If anything, I've seen a massive jump in anime titles and their popularity in the west since then. Wonder how they'd do today?

I doubt any of them would do well, but if I think it'd be cool to see someone like keiichi in there. higurashi still barely sneaks into the top 100 most popular anime, and is pretty well reviewed. that's about as good as you can hope for out of a character that is also eligible for the contest as a VG character.

if you're looking at today's results then that should tell you all you need to know about how well the average VN character does in these contests

(Phoenix Wright is the exception, not the rule)

Even if we ignore VN characters who look badass and/or are attractive girls, Keiichi still wouldn't be the strongest anime character that we could sneak in. Then again, I like Higurashi better than the other options and any VN characters would be fodder anyway.

I dunno, don't feel like normal VN entries get stronger than Saber or Archer. And they would both lose to more mainstream VN release characters like Monokuma or Phoenix. What do the stats say about a theoretical Archer VS Zero? IIRC there were in one of these.

I would bet on Saber and Archer against Monokuma. Danganronpa is way more niche than Fate these days.

oh yeah, I know. I probably typed those sentences in an order that made my message unclear. the core intent is that I know keiichi wouldn't be strong, but I just think it'd be cool to see him in there.

Zero from 999 was one of the weakest characters in 2013, and that's saying a lot. The stats say Archer would get about 64-65% on him.

Not too surprising because 999 and VLR were two of the weakest games in the 2015 Games Contest.

I feel like if you had to go outside of the grid for a VN character, Okabe from Steins;Gate would probably be the best bet, but even then, I wouldn't expect much.

Pikachu is eligible. Pokemon debuted as a game before the anime.

Saber is eligible. Fate/Stay Night was a video game before the anime.

Android 21 is eligible. She debuted in the game Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Anyone who originates directly from a manga or anime source isn't eligible for the tournament.
